Warning Operations and Workload Management

Welcome to a module which covers strategies to mitigate workload in warning operations. I cover topics such as

  • The Role of the Severe Weather Operations Plan
  • The Role of a Severe Weather Coordinator
  • Severe Weather Checklists
  • SA
  • Office warning strategies - examples from the field
  • Sectorizations, and especially shifting sector strategies
  • Individual and office strategies to recognize trouble

This module should take about 40 minutes to complete. It is an evolution from previous lessons on staffing strategies in order to address the tasks of shifting sectors during a severe weather event. Look to this site in the future as we add more materials and references.

Note to NWS Staff:

To receive credit for completing the Warning Operations and Workload Management Training, you must take the two training modules through the DoC E-learning LMS! The links below are for reference only.
