Description

NWS products and services are so critical during winter weather events because our customers, including the general public, rely on them. This Instructional Component will discuss both important issues involving the development of products and services, as well as how collaboration between forecasters in different WFOs and national centers can produce the best winter weather product suite possible.

Testing Procedures
Testing for Instructional Components (IC) lessons is provided to the student using the NWS Learning Management System (LMS). If testing is required, the test must be successfully completed in order to complete the lessons. A score of at least 70% on the exam is required to successfully complete each lesson.

Why Certain Products are Issued

Description
This lesson, narrated by Paul Stokols (OCWWS) , focuses on the products and services the NWS issues. The topics covered in this lesson include a policy timeline, results of the NWS User Survey related to winter weather products, operational problems and remedies, recently updated policy directives, event specific elements of winter weather warnings/advisories, and some scenarios on what specific winter weather products to issue.

Description
This lesson, narrated by Brian Motta (FDTB) and Pete Manousos (HPC), describes key elements of effective winter weather collaboration between WFOs and WFOs, and, between WFOs and HPC. The lesson also presents products and processes provided by the HPC Winter Weather Desk.
