There is CIN on this sounding, but storms broke the cap along a warm front across Iowa and quickly became supercellular. This event really hammered the Des Moines CWA, with exceptional numbers of severe hail reports, and the majority of the reports were golfball and larger. Significant amounts of severe hail were reported from 16-23 UTC in central Iowa.
